OUR PURPOSE AND INTENT

Diaspora Colours came about during the Covid lockdowns that started in 2020. Our artworks are a response to that Covid period as well as an opportunity to allow expression, experiment and experience through one of the most fundamental elements in space- walls! Our initial response was to create a range of interior decor products, but then realised that artwork on walls is the most effective product to achieve our intent.

Since 2020, our homes have taken on a kind of hybrid environment following the various Covid Pandemic restrictions.  For many of us, they are now places for home and work. Work that was done somewhere else before. Our homes however were not designed for this, which means that we now spend much longer times in spaces not designed for "work".

Research has shown that colours and forms that depict nature with a certain element calling for closer examination, can reduce the impacts of lengthened internal spatial use. Our artwork provides colour and form that depicts nature, using lines, shapes and colour and drawing on imagination to add a certain element of interest. Some of it can be placed horizontally or vertically, and some of it can be set as a combination with other related pieces next to one another to form huge murals or feature walls.

Our artwork however, is not only to address the new work environment, but to also provide opportunities to bring life to spaces, courtesy of the abundance of walls. In homes, in the office, in restaurants, hotels, and wherever a wall presents itself for an artwork. Express yourself with artwork, experiment with orientation and artwork combinations, and experience the beauty of lines, shapes and colour, from across the world.

Adorn your walls.
