Diaspora Colours came about during the Covid lockdowns that started in 2020.
Since 2020, our homes have taken on a kind of hybrid environment due to Covid Pandemic lockdowns. For many of us, they are now places for home and work. For many people this work was done somewhere else before. Work for some is at home part of the week and for others every day of the week. Our homes however were not designed for this and one of the impacts of this has been a rise in mental health challenges. Some of the causes are the use of spaces in our homes not designed for such use and the absence of things normally associated with "going to work". This includes change of scene, variety at the work place and transition during travel time.
As a result, we asked ourselves a few questions. How do we alleviate the problem that this hybrid environment creates. How do we provide some of the features of "going to work" in an affordable way and contribute to well-being. Research has shown that colours and forms that depict nature can reduce the impacts of lengthened internal spatial use.
We therefore identified home decor as an effective means of creating some of these features affordably without needing to knock down walls or refurbish spaces. Our products are therefore rich in earth and nature colours and forms. They include wall hangings, cushion of pillow covers, tablecloths, blankets, and kitchenware. We have provided some decor ideas that provide suggestions to inspire you in creating your own decor and to allow flexibility through decor refresh options. To extend your scope of options, our products also include lifestyle or personal decor for you to incorporate to your home decor.
If your home has not been impact by the hybrid environment but have recently bought a house, refurbished parts of it, or simply love home decor, have friends over often or love earth and nature colours, our products will add value to you as well.
