Art shaped by the geometry of global cities and architecture
Diaspora Colours specialises in creating abstract urban and geometric art for interior styling. Rather than producing standalone decorative pieces, artworks are developed as themed groups- allowing designers and space-owners to curate cohesive visual narratives across space(s).
The art is inspired by global architecture and cities, and the universal geometry, lines, and shapes of cities. The works are designed to function together to support layered interiors, architectural experience and interior composition. Free shipping in Australia, USA and Europe for most of the works (check catalogue).
How to curate your space (3-step process)
-
1- Choose a product group
Choose a group that resonates with you in the following series:
URBAN- 3 dimensional; green, mountainous or geometric
GEOMETRIC- blocks, lines and shapes
-
2- Choose your art and sizes
Each group has 2 or 3 sizes. Larger sizes are ideal for larger spaces (e.g. living rooms, meeting spaces, feature walls) and smaller sizes for smaller spaces (e.g. dining room, kitchens, bathrooms)
-
3- Curate and install
Curate whole interiors, divide your curation [e.g. bedrooms, bathrooms, study] vs [entryway, living room, dining rooms] or as single spaces (e.g. collages, feature walls)
The artist- Mwaniki Wa-Gichia
Mwaniki has been creating art for over 40 years with varying degrees of time devoted to it. He trained as an architect and practised architecture for a number of years. In recent years, he has been devoting more time to art, focussing on geometry, shapes, lines, colours and textures seen in the urban space and cities.
Influenced by architecture, Mwaniki sees art as not only supposed to be visually appealing, but to also shape its immediate context (interior design and styling) and to engage the mind
